Boozhoo kina waya/ Hello everyone!

My name is Rylee LaLonde. I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at Michigan State University. My research centers on Indigeneity, traditional knowledge ways, and bioarchaeology– specifically how these fields can come together to better uphold and serve Tribal Nation goals. I was a CHI fellow in 2024-2025, and am back for another year as a senior fellow!

My interest in digital heritage is still developing and continues to be rooted in the ethical consideration of tangible or intangible practices on display, specifically in the case of museums that partner with Tribes to build exhibits. I am eager to return to coding this year and grow in my knowledge of digital methodologies that can accompany these languages as an approach to scholarship.

I am excited to be a part of the CHI family (once again) and look forward to another awesome year with a new cohort!
In my next post, I’ll share more about my new project planning process!

Baamaapii/See you later!
